The connection between talent attraction and primary job growth is unmistakable, making it extremely important that, together, we remain focused on the deliberate strategies that will create lasting results. In 2016, the Greater Wichita Partnership launched an extensive research initiative with local businesses to garner key insights on talent recruitment gaps, which, if addressed, could significantly impact talent recruitment and retention efforts within the region. As baby boomers transition out of the workforce, and companies market new opportunities for the trained, educated and passionate leaders of tomorrow, we must work to implement the strategies identified and aggressively market the amenities of the community.

Jeff Fluhr and Léah Sakr Lavender of the Greater Wichita Partnership team will share an update on the organization's progress in fast-forwarding economic growth, the importance of talent availability to drive economic development, and what HR can do to build programs for talent development.

Learning Objectives:

  • The community as a whole is working collaboratively to address talent availability. This program will identify some of the initiatives that are available to employers/recruiters to learn more about what is being done to increase our talent pipeline.
  • Community engagement is an effective retention and attraction strategies. This program will address a variety of opportunities employees can get involved in the community and connect with their peers to contribute to the city.
  • Talent is increasingly choosing a place that fits their lifestyle before choosing a job. This program will highlight how the Greater Wichita Partnership can work with HR team to promote the standard of living/amenities of the region and the different experiences that can be offered here.
