Membership Details: Wichita SHRM memberships are individual and are non-refundable, non-transferable, and non-assignable. Membership in Wichita SHRM is owned by the individual, not the organization with whom the member is affiliated.
The membership application approval process will begin when annual dues are received. Chapter membership runs on an anniversary year basis.
Dual membership in Wichita SHRM and SHRM-National is encouraged. Information regarding SHRM-National membership can be found at www.shrm.org.

- Workshops and keynote presentations covering key HR issues and topics are available throughout the year. Monthly speakers and programs reflect current issues in human resource management. These meetings also provide members with the opportunity to networking with other HR professionals. Members benefit from reduced and/or no cost for many Wichita SHRM events (review event calendar for details.)
- The annual Kansas State SHRM Conference provides members with a wide variety of workshops, speakers and exposure to HR products and services.
- The Membership Directory, available on-line, provides useful reference information and a listing of Chapter Members for networking purposes. Use of the directory for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited.
- We offer Employment Assistance to both members and employers. Members can view job opportunities, submit their qualifications on-line and send their resume to members for potential job opportunities. Employers can post job opportunities, view member qualifications and request resumes of members to assist them in their recruiting needs.
- The Chapter's quarterly newsletter publication, HR Focus reports on chapter activities and current HR and legislative issues.

SHRM Benefits Summary of The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) - As a separate entity, Wichita SHRM benefits differ from SHRM National.
Wichita SHRM MembershipMembership in SHRM-Wichita is granted in one of the four following classifications. Please apply for your membership at the appropriate level as this will speed approval of your application:- Local Membership ($60): Membership in the Chapter is offered to persons whose professional employment and primary career interest is in the field of human resource management. Local members enjoy the right to vote and hold elective office in the Chapter.
- Local & National Membership ($30): Current national SHRM members receive a discounted fee for local membership.
- Student Membership: Student membership is available to all national members of chartered SHRM Student Chapters. Student Members may participate in Chapter activities and are eligible to vote. Student Members may not hold Chapter office. The Wichita SHMR Student Chapter Liaison will coordinate student membership classifications.
- Honorary Life Membership: Life members are board appointed, non dues-paying and shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of local membership.
Wichita SHRM Volunteer OpportunitiesOur Chapter offers all members the opportunity to grow professionally and network informally with your fellow Chapter members by volunteering on standing committees or special projects. Our volunteer involvement encompasses both long and short-term time commitments and a variety of assignments. Some volunteers consult informally with other members on issues and problems within their area of expertise as part of our Chapter Member Network, while others write articles for our monthly newsletter, coordinate speaker appearances, and register attendees for meetings and seminars. Volunteer committees provide members an opportunity to lead and participate in activities within the chapter and work closely with other chapter members and leaders. - Finance: The Finance Committee assists in the assessment of financial implications of proposed actions and makes appropriate recommendations to the board. Develops and monitors annual budgets, measures financial effectiveness, and reports on financial matters to the general membership. The committee provides input regarding possible financial concerns and assesses the financial direction of the chapter.
- Programs: The Programs Committee assists with developing, planning, and coordinating monthly meetings, workshops, seminars, and any special events that may be held. The Diversity Director sits on the committee to provide input on diversity programming.
- Membership: The Membership Committee assists with maintaining chapter Membership. The committee plans, implements and coordinates the annual Membership drive(s), provides orientation to new chapter members, serves as Ambassadors for the chapter, and encourages ongoing networking of new and current members by providing information about Wichita SHRM, its Mission and ongoing programs, services and events.
- Communications: The Communications Committee assists with planning and implementing chapter public relations and communications including recommendations for the chapter newsletter, website, and other forms of communications to promote Wichita SHRM in the business community.
- Marketing: The Marketing Committee assists with developing, planning, implementing, and managing the marketing activities of the chapter, including sponsorship solicitation for luncheons, PM programs, seminars and other chapter activities.
- Legislative: The Legislative Committee assists with developing, planning, and implementing activities that promote the education and participation of chapter members in legislative affairs. The committee monitors local, state and national activities and disseminates information to the membership on legislative issues that may affect the HR profession.
- Certification: The Certification Committee encourages members to achieve PHR, SPHR, and/or GPHR certification through publicizing information related to HRCI certification and promoting activities that will assist members in preparing for the exam.
- Diversity: The Diversity Committee provides technical expertise and program leadership on issues that impact workplace diversity, equal employment opportunity, affirmative action and other related topics to the Wichita SHRM membership.
- Workforce Readiness: The Workforce Readiness Committee works to inspire the HR professional to be a catalyst and resource in developing connections that result in educational excellence and workforce readiness by working with community organizations and linking Wichita SHRM members to those opportunities.
- Strategic Planning: The Strategic Planning Committee works to assess and adjust Wichita SHRM's mission, goals, and strategies to ensure they are consistent with the national organization, responsive to the local membership's needs, and ensure effective and efficient chapter operations

The peer mentoring program takes an approach that emphasizes commitment, learning, personal growth, and development. - College Relations
