It is not illegality that fuels employee lawsuits, but rather employee anger arising from perceived unfair treatment. Placing a legal label, such as discrimination or retaliation, on the seeming unfairness afterwards. Supervisors, managers, and executives often engage in behaviors that, unintentionally, lead employees to feel misled, lied to, or otherwise unfairly treated. In doing so, they increase the likelihood of litigation.
This program will provide some practical advice for avoiding common pitfalls and that “dreaded” EEOC visit. Ten common management mistakes that increase the likelihood of employee lawsuits will be highlighted by “real life” EEOC case studies. Topics such as rewarding bad employees, consistency, communication, seeking revenge, etc. will be covered during this session. This program will also focus on assisting employers in developing strategic plans to address and resolve EEOC charges. Participants will receive information on EEOC complaint processing procedures, submitting evidence, writing a position statement, working with the investigator, surviving interviews, etc.
