Jeremy Hill will present an employment forecast by industry for Kansas and the Wichita MSA. It will identify some of the key leading economic variables that businesses need to know to navigate the turbulent economy. The presentation will identify the expected trough and type of recovery Wichita is likely to face. This includes answering questions like, “if the economy will have a robust turn around” and “if there will be a jobless recovery.” Other major topics includes expectations of the credit market, volatility of energy prices, wavering consumer confidence, and the federal government‘s affect on the regional economy.
About the presenter:
Jeremy joined the WSU W. Frank Barton School of Business-Center for Economic Development and Business Research in May of 2009 as director. In his role, he leads the CEDBR’s objective economic research and analysis forrivate businesses, nonprofits and government organizations in Wichita, the state and thesurrounding region. He has nine years of experience working with two applied research centers at Georgia Southern University: the Bureau of Business Research and Economic Developmentand Coastal Rivers Water Planning and Policy Center.
He successfully developed key relationships for the centers during his tenure there and looks forward to networkingand partnering with the business and economicdevelopment communities served by the CEDBR and the W. Frank Barton School of Business. His research focus has been on business analysis, community development, education, workforce, tourism, housing and retirement dynamics. This variety of researchhas required economic impact modeling, cost-benefitanalysis, forecasting, data analysis, and surveydevelopment and design.He has been involved in a number of national and regional organizations like the Association ofUniversity Business and Economic Research, the National Association of Home Builders, andthe University Economic Development Association.
