OSHA requires employers to record certain health and safety incidents that occur each year. An injury or illness is generally considered to be work related if it occurred in the workplace. However, the recording and reporting criteria is the subject of much debate and interpretation. This program will provide HR professionals information on the OSHA recordkeeping requirements and key concerns in the decision making process. By evaluating several case studies, HR professionals will explore both common and uncommon situations that may occur in the workplace affecting their organizations’ OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
Following this presentation, HR professionals will be able to:
Understand the regulatory background for reporting occupational injuries and illnesses.
Understand how reporting and recording can assist with case management.
Implement proper policies and procedures for reporting injuries and illnesses.
Identify specific triggers that make an injury or illness recordable.
Evaluate and resolve ambiguous recordkeeping situations
