Certainly not any employer/defendant who has sat at the counsel table in a case involving hiring discrimination. This session will cover the dangers employers can run into by blogging a candidates and employees on the internet. Mr. Rupe will cover the legal pros and cons of relying on online data. You will learn when the internet can be used for HR purposes and what information you should never search for!
Mr. Alan Rupe is a trial lawyer whose demonstration of special knowledge, skills and proficiency in civil trial law has earned him the title of “Board Certified Trial Specialist” by the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification. In his public speaking and writing, Mr. Rupe shares his experience with executives, lawyers and human resource professionals. He speaks frequently on the topics of ethics, sex harassment and a variety of workplace issues. His monthly articles in Workforce Management (www.workforce.com) are read by employers across the country. He is a contributing author to the Kansas Bar Association’s Employment Law Handbook and the Annual Survey of Law, two widely distributed handbooks on employment and discrimination topics.
Mr. Rupe has a Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors from the University of Kansas. He obtained his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Washburn University in 1975. Mr. Rupe is admitted to practice in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals (5th, 6th, 8th, and 10th Circuits); a number of U.S. District Courts and the United States Supreme Court.
