Position Description
David Cox
President
Serves as the chief executive officer of the Wichita Chapter of SHRM. Provide leadership to the local chapter consistent with state, regional, and national policy, strategies and objectives. Responsible for operating the chapter effectively so the needs of the members are met. Serves as a voting member of the State Council.
Kara Hunt
President-Elect
Responsible to train for the role of President. Assist the President in overseeing all the activities of the chapter. In the absence of the President or at the President’s request, perform all the Presidential responsibilities.
Jena Lysen
Vice-President, Programs
Responsible for planning, managing the development, and coordinating the programs for the monthly meetings, workshops, seminars, and such special meetings that may be called by the President. The VP of Programs shall also perform such other duties as may be assigned by this Constitution, the President, or the Executive Board. The VP of Programs is first in line for succession to the Presidency in the absence or disability of the President and President-Elect.
Tanya M. Shryock
Vice-President, Membership
Responsible for growth and maintenance of membership for the local chapter of SHRM. Responsible to support and assist the President, and to perform other duties as may be assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board. The VP of Programs is second in line for succession to the Presidency in the absence or disability of the President and President-Elect.
Phillip M. Hayes
Vice-President, Communications
Responsible for performing the variety of duties required in public relations and communications including, but not limited to, management of the chapter newsletter, weekly emails and monthly agendas. The VP of Communications shall also perform such other duties as may be assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board. The VP of Communication is third in line for succession to the Presidency in the absence or disability of the President and President-Elect. This individual also serves as Technology Director and is responsible for maintaining the chapter web-site and facilitating technology-related issues for the organization.
Shari Rains
Vice-President, Marketing
Responsible for overseeing and managing the marketing and public relations activities of the chapter. Responsible for generating funds to support the activities and goals of the local chapter.
Julie Nuessen
Secretary
Responsible for preparing the minutes of all meetings of the Executive Board, and any other business meetings of the Chapter. The Secretary shall maintain and publish a roster of Chapter members each year or at lesser intervals as deemed necessary by the Executive Board. The Secretary shall also perform other duties as assigned by this Constitution, the President, or the Executive Board.
Mary Troy
Treasurer
Responsible for the financial affairs of the chapter including the management of chapter funds, and the preparation, interpretation, and dissemination of periodic financial reports to the Executive Board. As a financial advisor of the chapter, the Treasurer must be in a position to assess the financial implications of proposed actions by the Executive Board and inform the Board prior to any final decisions being made. The Treasurer must be able to assess the financial direction of the chapter, recognize possible financial problems and bring such problems to the attention of the executive committee for action. The Treasurer shall participate in the annual audit process on Article X, Section 3. The Treasurer shall also perform other duties as assigned by this Constitution, the President, or the Executive Board.
Shawne Boyd
Director, Certification
Responsible to increase the number of chapter members who are certified PHR/SPHR by the Human Resource Certification Institute by promoting certification to chapter members. Responsible to perform other duties as assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board.
Trinidad Galdean
Director, Legislative
Responsible for the education of members and dissemination of information regarding legislative issues at the local, state, regional, and national levels. The Legislative Representative shall also perform other duties as assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board.
Hanna Simon
Director, Diversity
Responsible to monitor and evaluate on a continuing basis local activities concerning diversity issues. Leads the effort to diversify the Chapter’s membership/leadership and to publicize successful diversity programs in the local community. The Diversity Director shall also perform other duties as assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board.
Terri Mahaffey
Director, WSU Student Chapter Liaision
Responsible for maintaining an effective relationship with the local student chapters by attending student chapter meetings and providing guidance and counseling. The Student Chapter Liaison shall also perform other duties as assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board.
Lonna Black
Director, Student Chapter Liaison-Consortium
Responsible for maintaining an effective relationship with the local student chapters by attending student chapter meetings and providing guidance and counseling. The Student Chapter Liaison shall also perform other duties as assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board.
Bobbi Santana
Director, SHRM Foundation
Responsible to educate, promote, and represent the interests of the SHRM Foundation and its activities to the Chapter. Responsible to perform other duties as assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board.

Director, Workforce Readiness
Responsible to monitor and evaluate on a continuing basis local activities concerning school-to-work issues and plans. Plans and encourages chapter involvement and activities impacting the school-to-work area. The School to Work Director shall also perform other duties as assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board.
Dan Hamel
Director At-Large
Responsible for assisting an officer in the governing of the business of the Chapter and performing other such duties as may be assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board.
Jeffrey B. Hurt
Director At-Large
Responsible for assisting an officer in the governing of the business of the Chapter and performing other such duties as may be assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board.
Ronald N. Ratzlaff
Director At-Large
Responsible for assisting an officer in the governing of the business of the Chapter and performing other such duties as may be assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board.
Larry Seger
Director At-Large
Responsible for assisting an officer in the governing of the business of the Chapter and performing other such duties as may be assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board.
Jon Tiger
Director At-Large
Responsible for assisting an officer in the governing of the business of the Chapter and performing other such duties as may be assigned by the by-laws, the President, or the Executive Board.

Ex-officio Board Member – Immediate Past President
Support the President when and where requested.

Association Administrator

WSU SHRM Student Chapter President
Responsible for obtaining information that would be valuable to the student’s university chapter and perform other such duties as may be assigned by this Constitution, the President, or the Executive Board.
