Since 1960, when the Wichita Chapter was chartered, we have provided a local forum to address many of the issues that HR professionals encounter here in the Air Capital. The Wichita Chapter is the largest SHRM affiliated chapter in the state of Kansas with over 470 members as of October, 2007.

The Wichita Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (Wichita-SHRM) exists to serve the needs of the HR professional, to advance the HR profession, and to enhance the effectiveness of our members as business partners.

Professional Development Opportunities
- Enhance networking and learning opportunities
- Promote continuing education through scholarships and certification
- Provide timely information on Legal and Legislative issues that impact the human resource field
Community Involvement
- Partner with other area organizations to offer professional development opportunities: Wichita Metro Chamber, Visioneering Wichita and the Non-Profit Chamber of Service which was added in 2007.
- Expand involvement in the local community and continue the partnership with Wichita area Colleges and Universities.
Chapter Growth and Development
- Continually foster our volunteer program to include: maintaining an active volunteer roster, identifying all types of volunteer activities, requesting that all members volunteer for a minimum of one activity, and promoting volunteer opportunities at monthly meetings and orientations.
- Further develop and enhance the Chapter web site.
- Continue to identify opportunities for non-dues revenue and continue to provide programs and services to our members at a reasonable cost.
- Provide continual focus on retention of Chapter members.
- Identify and develop future chapter leaders.
